Grondstein-Steinward is a settlement in the Elten district of the city of Emmerich am Rhein in the Kleve district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1935, Grondstein-Steinward was an independent municipality in what was then Rees County .
geography
Grondstein-Steinward is located in the extreme northwest of the urban area of Emmerich am Altrhein , which also forms the German-Dutch border there. As always, the place consists of only a few farms. The community Grondstein-Steinward had an area of 2.73 km².
history
Grondstein-Steinward was an old peasantry and formed a rural community in the Elten mayor's office (from 1928 Elten office ) in the Rees district since the 19th century . On January 1, 1935, Grondstein-Steinward was incorporated into Elten . Elten in turn became part of the city of Emmerich am Rhein on January 1, 1975.
Schlosshof-Grondstein was an estate on Grondstein 1 between 1378 and 1840. The property was drawn up around 1745 by Jan de Beijer .

Culture
The name of the Sankt Martinus Schützenbruderschaft refers to the old community name . Elten-Grondstein Citizens' Rifle Club 1928 .
