KG ( Schnelldorf ) and groninger USA LLC ( Charlotte , USA) achieved in 2016 over 156 million euros in sales and employ over 1,200 employees. Groninger is a family company. The managing directors are Jens and Volker Groninger, the sons of the company's founder Horst Groninger.
The company manufactures special machines for processing pharmaceutical, cosmetic and consumer healthcare products and offers product-related services. It is one of the market leaders in its industry. With an export share of 80%, Groninger machines are delivered worldwide.
history
The family company was founded on April 11, 1980 by Horst Groninger. At that time, it specialized in processing pre-filled disposable syringes. Thanks to new developments in filling and closing technology, Groninger was able to win customers first in the pharmaceutical industry and later in the cosmetics industry. In the years that followed, the company's sales grew by 10–15% each year.
Between 1992 and 1995 two large new buildings were carried out, an assembly hall and an administration building in Crailsheim .
Volker Groninger has been the technical director since 1999. Jens Groninger is the commercial director and responsible for the areas of human resources, marketing, sales, service, qualification and validation.

Since 2000, systems for the pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare industries have been manufactured at the company's headquarters . Systems for the cosmetic and consumer healthcare industry are produced in Schnelldorf . Inquiries from North America are processed by groninger LLC in Charlotte (North Carolina) .
Patents and developments
Two years after the company was founded, the process patent for the sealless rotary piston pump was applied for. In the next few years, further innovations were developed that optimize the processing of pharmaceutical products. This includes the development of a low-particle crimping unit and a fully automatic in-process weight control (IPK) for processing vials and bottles. In 1991 the patent for ceramic pumps with flushing device followed. These pumps can also be cleaned when they are installed and will in future be built into systems for processing disposable syringes. Further advances were made in isolator technology, the further development of dosing systems and sterilization tunnels, and servo technology. Groninger holds patents on a tub opening system, a new segment transport system and a tub decontamination chamber. In 2010 a new Development + Production System was introduced.
Products
The production program includes single machines, but also systems up to fully automatic process lines. The machines are manufactured according to specific requirements. Groninger manufactures machines for processing various plastic or glass containers, for example syringes , vials , eye drop and nasal spray containers, perfume bottles, cream jars, mascara and nail polish containers and various bottles. Various process steps are carried out during processing, including feeding the container and product, cleaning, sterilization , filling, closing, assembly, labeling and checking.
With its new “Business Line” product line, groninger has been offering a standardized, modular construction kit for the configuration of filling and sealing machines for three years. Each of the different process steps that the machine carries out can be implemented using different modules. For example, there are modules in fully automatic or semi-automatic versions. This concept reduces the costs for the machine and the delivery times. In addition, the modular design means that customers can now easily and quickly retrofit the machine in the event of changes in production requirements. The modular construction kit of the Business Line enables an individual configuration of the machine with a total of over 500 different configuration variants.
