Grotta del Colombo (Toirano)

The Grotta del Colombo is one of the oldest archaeological sites in Italy . The cave belongs to the cave system Grotte di Toirano ( Liguria ), in which there are several archaeological sites, such as the Grotta di Santa Lucia Superiore and Inferiore caves a few dozen meters below the Colombo cave . The traces of the Colombo Cave go back 300,000 years. Below the cave is the Grotta della Bàsura, also an archaeological site.

In the 1950s, excavations took place under the direction of Professor AM Radmilli from the University of Pisa , and in 1962 under Carlo Tozzi from the same house.
