Group Therapy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Group Therapy was a New York rock band formed in 1966 by Ray Kennedy (vocals). The other band members were Art Del Gudico (guitar), Jerry Guida (keyboard), Tommy Burns (drums) and Michael Lamont (drums).

The group became known in Europe when they accompanied Moby Grape on a tour of Great Britain in 1968 . However, since they were unable to transfer the expressiveness they had generated during performances to their recordings, commercial success failed to materialize. The group broke up after releasing just three albums.

The band experienced a revival in Berlin in 1974, but the line-up had been changed: Anne Rensing (vocals) and Annette Humpe (now a member of Ich + Ich ) were among them . The group experimented in their musical direction and briefly brought a trumpeter into the ensemble, but generally they played pop rock . The "second" Group Therapy toured several major German cities, but after Anne Rensing and the bassist left, only a few appearances took place, such as in "Sound", a Berlin disco.
