The Grubb Glacier is a glacier on the Danco coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It flows west of the Bagshawe Glacier to Lester Cove , a side bay of Andvord Bay .
The glacier was first shown on an Argentine map from 1952. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the Irish optician Thomas Grubb (1800–1878) who developed the first aplanat in 1857 , an optical system in which the aberrations of spherical aberration and coma are corrected.
