The Wenzel mine is a visitor mine opened in 2001 and a former silver mine in Zinken Frohnbach in Oberwolfach in the Black Forest , which had its heyday at the time of Napoléon . Silver had been mined here since the beginning of the 14th century , but after a few decades none could be found and mining was stopped . It was not until 1760 that silver was looked for again in the shafts under the direction of the Fürstenberg clerk Kapf. During this search, several silver deposits were found and mining continued. After the founding of the visitor mines' association in 1997, the former silver mine was restored in 1999 and prepared for visitors. In 2001 the work was finished and it was opened to visitors.
