As land drainage is called a sewer system that the wastewater of a plot of public sewer supplies. There are two types of wastewater: dirty water and rainwater . You will find different systems in Germany; in the private as well as in the commercial or public sector, a mixed system or a separation system can be found in the respective building / company building . All wastewater, rainwater and waste water, run together in the mixed system. In the separation system you will find two complete sewage systems that lead to separate main lines on the street. Every owner of a building, whether a city (schools, hospitals, etc.), a commercial enterprise or the private homeowner, is responsible for the operation and maintenance of his sewage system.

In many countries there are already regulations that deal with the constant control and maintenance of sewage networks. One example is Section 61a in the LWG NRW. This defines the type of test, the test intervals and the timing for testing and verification of every sewer network, whether private or commercial.
