Grupo de Acciones de Comando Fuerzas Especiales

The Grupo de Acciones de Comando Fuerzas Especiales or GAC is a special unit of the Guardia Nacional Bolivariana (National Guard of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela). The unit was established on June 4, 1985 to prevent organized crime and smuggling in rural areas as well as at the border . The first commander of the unit was Guillermo Parra. The GAC has about 1,000 soldiers. In the first 30 years of its existence, around 10,000 soldiers passed through the unit. Colonel Sergio Negrín Alvarado has been the unit's commander since 2018.
