The Speedway Music Festival is a festival of the genres EDM , hip-hop and techno in Hamburg. From 2017 to 2019 the event took place in Brokstedt , Schleswig-Holstein . It has taken place every year in August since 2017.
history
The festival took place for the first time on August 26, 2017 at the Holsteinring in Brokstedt. The event was organized by the Speedway Festival GmbH founded for this purpose. According to managing director John Mahlmann, one of the reasons they wanted to do this was because too few festivals with electronic music would take place in northern Germany. At the first edition, around 2500 visitors came to the music event, in 2018 there were 4000. There was one stage each for the genres EDM and hip-hop. In 2019, a camping pass will be offered for the first time and a third stage for the techno genre has been announced. On February 25, 2020, the organizers announced via Facebook that the following festival would no longer take place in Brokstedt, but in Hamburg. No new agreement could be reached with the owner of the pasture areas used as a parking lot at Holsteinring. The site of the MS Dockville Festival in the Hamburg district of Wilhelmsburg was chosen as the new location .

The Holsteinring in Brokstedt, which was actually used as a speedway track, was used as the site until 2019 . In the first two years there were 2 stages, from 2019 a third was added. The surrounding fields were used for parking and camping (2019 only), according to the organizers, parking spaces for 8,000 cars were available. There was also a shuttle service from the nearby Brokstedt train station, as well as a paid shuttle bus service from several northern German cities.
In 2020 the festival is to take place for the first time in the Uferpark Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg.
