Group G (Motorsport)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The group G is a national group of vehicles in motorsports, which in 1984 by the then competent ONS was launched. It is the series next group of touring car and is even closer to the road version than the group N . Nowadays the regulations are defined by the DMSB .

class Power to weight ratio in kg / kW
G1 under 9
G2 from 9 to under 11
G3 from 11 to under 13
G4 from 13 to under 15
G5 from 15 to under 18
G6 from 18 to under 21
G7 from 21

In contrast to other vehicle groups, it is not subdivided according to displacement , but has remained unchanged since 1984 according to power- to- weight ratio (see table).

The seriality is not described in a homologation sheet . The vehicles are authorized to start either with a valid vehicle registration or a car pass for group G. When accepting a vehicle pass, a copy of the vehicle registration document and the DMSB list of Group G vehicles in which the vehicle must be included must be submitted. The technical descriptions of the manufacturer (workshop manuals), in particular the information required for admission to traffic, serve as the basis for compliance with the rules. In a competition, however, the vehicle must always comply with the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations .

Technical changes to the vehicle are generally only allowed to increase safety. But the engine can be drilled up to the factory tolerances. Tires with no profile may also be used in competitions on closed-off routes.
