Supreme National Sports Commission for Motor Sports in Germany
The Supreme National Sports Commission for Automobile Sports in Germany GmbH ( ONS ) was a member of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile to 1997, the sporting power for the motor sport in Germany. It was founded in 1926, from 1934 its functions were taken over by the National Socialist Motor Vehicle Corps , which was dissolved in 1945. In 1949 the ONS was brought back to life. In 1998, the merger of ONS and OMK resulted in the Deutsche Motor Sport Bund .
As a sports authority, the ONS was responsible for issuing licenses, approving sports events, announcing championships, regulating sports and technical regulations and enforcing them under sports law.
