Guarenas is a city in the state of Miranda , Venezuela . It is the administrative seat of the Berizk Ambrosio Plaza. The population is about 240,000 people (estimates for 2007).
history
Guarenas was founded as an Indian village on February 14, 1621. The whole name was Nuestra Señora de la Copacabana de los Guarenas.
In 1749 people from Guarenas joined the León-led protests against the monopoly of the Guipuzcoana trading house.
Alexander von Humboldt said that several of the most beautiful sugar plantations in Venezuela were in Guarenas.
