Gudrun Stockmanns

Gudrun Stockmanns (born April 2, 1965 in Hüls ) is a German computer scientist and former university president.

Life

Stockmanns studied computer science with a minor in medicine (medical informatics) at RWTH Aachen University until 1992 . She then worked as a research assistant at the University of Duisburg-Essen until 2004, and in 1999 she was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD. In the following years she worked as a project coordinator at B. Braun Melsungen AG before, after a renewed assignment at the University of Duisburg-Essen, she became group leader in the Home and Health Care department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems . Before she took office as President of the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences in 2015, she was Professor of Practical Computer Science at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, where she returned in autumn 2018.

Memberships

Stockmanns is a board member of the German Society for Biomedical Technology ( DGBMT ), a specialist society in the association of electrical engineering, electronics and information technology , and was the director and founding member of the interdisciplinary competence center for research into intelligent assistance systems and technologies (FAST) in cooperation with the department of economics of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences.
