Guido T. Poppe (* 1954 ) is a Belgian malacologist .

life and career

Poppe lives in the Philippines and researches and documents mainly the sea snails and other mollusks in the country. His case collection Phillipine Collection of Conchology, Inc. comprises 25,000 specimens, of which about 2000 are of as yet undescribed species. He has published numerous books and is the editor of the malacological journal Visaya. Although he had no academic training, he wrote the first scientific description for more than 200 molluscs. Over 30 species have been named in his honor.
