Guillaume Thomas Taraval

Guillaume Thomas Taraval (* 1701 in Paris ; † 1750 ) was a Swedish painter from France.

He came to Sweden in 1732 to help build the royal palace, where he introduced the Rococo style. He painted portraits, altarpieces and still lifes and ceiling paintings in the Royal Palace in Stockholm (designs for the ceiling paintings in the castle chapel were made by his student Johan Pasch ). He was the first director of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts since it was founded in 1735 and has many students in Sweden.

His son Louis Gustave Taraval was also a painter and architect.
