Gukja are characters that were developed in Korea based on the form principles of the Chinese script , but are only used in Korean .
An example of this is the character 畓 ( Hangeul : 답 dap ), which is written in Chinese as 水田 ( Pinyin : shuǐtián ) meaning rice field and combines the two characters into one. The character 欌 (Hangeul: 장 jang ) is also a Korean character and means wardrobe.
Some Hanja are simplified forms, yakja (Hangeul: 약자 , Hanja: 略 字 ), which could occur in everyday use. An example is an italic form of the character 無 ( wú 'nothing').
Further examples are: 巭 ( 부 bu ), 頉 ( 탈 tal ), 䭏 ( 편 pyeon ), 哛 ( 뿐 ppun ) and 椧 ( 명 myeong ).
