Gunilla Gerland

Gunilla Kristina Gerland (born July 13, 1963 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish author .

Gerland grew up in difficult family circumstances. Child psychology professor Christopher Gillberg diagnosed her with autism and encouraged her to write. In her autobiography Being a real person ( En riktigomanniska ), published in 1996, she describes how she grew up with Asperger's Syndrome in a less sensitive environment. She lives in Stockholm and is committed to a better acceptance and understanding of autism.
