Gunnar Lundkvist
Gunnar Lundkvist (* 1958 ) is a Swedish author and cartoonist .
Life
He made his debut as a poet at a very young age, but later became best known for his comics about Klas Katt and Olle Ångest . Both his poems and his comics are characterized by a deep melancholy. The comics are drawn in a simple style and have animals in the lead roles, which contrasts with the often tragic content.
In 2004 Lundkvist was awarded the Urhunden Prize in the category “Best Swedish Comical Album 2003” for his comic book Klas Katt går till sjöss . The jury based its decision on the successful juxtaposition of a poetic, minimalist portrayal of existential darkness and a black but human humor.
