A cucumber elevator (also known as a cucumber lift , a cucumber elevator or a lifting sieve , in France called ascenseur de cornichons ) is an accessory that is especially delivered in French pickle jars . It is a strainer with a stem at the bottom of the glass. It is used to fish the gherkins , which are very small in contrast to the German Spreewald gherkins, out of the pickle jar. It can be hung on the edge of the glass using hooks. These accessories are often not used when exporting pickle jars.

Similarly, there are also plastic containers for kitchens for storing pickled cucumbers, garlic cloves or olives with a suitable lifting device.
