Belt lock for 3-point belt

A seat belt lock is a device used to fix a belt, especially for seat belts .

description

Belt systems consist of the belt strap, the belt lock, a belt retractor, a height adjuster, a belt tensioner and fittings such as the buckle tongue, deflection fitting and end fitting.

To put on the belt, the end piece of the belt provided for this purpose, the lock tongue, is inserted into the belt lock and engages. This process is also known as "buckling up". A button on the housing of the belt lock is usually used to open the belt.

In modern motor vehicles, a sensor is built into the seat belt buckle which, together with a sensor in the seat, determines whether someone is occupying the seat and whether this person is buckled up. A “seat belt reminder” is implemented as a flashing light in the instrument cluster and as an acoustic warning tone. A seat belt reminder is included in the Euro NCAP safety assessment .

Belt on the plane

Belt locks are used primarily in vehicles in connection with seat belts. In cars , they are usually fixed between the seats and the center console or attached to short belt ends on the back seat . In aircraft seats , they are usually located in the middle of the two halves of the belt and can be opened by folding up one part.

For seat belts in public attractions such as roller coasters, there are also electrically controlled belt buckles without a button to open, so that the belt cannot be accidentally opened while driving.
