Mustache Wax , also beard wax or Bartpomade called, is a traditional cosmetic product for men. It is similar to pomade , but is used as a beard fastener, especially for the care of the mustache .

application

Beard wax is offered as a finished product in tubes and cans. It is used by rubbing it into the beard with the index finger ( beard waxing). The beard becomes soft and malleable and can be shaped or twirled into the desired shape. At beard championships, beards that are artificially changed with aids such as hairspray and beard wax are also known as freestyle or freestyle beards. In order to prevent odors, beards treated with a beard wax require daily care. In contrast to other molding agents, beard wax is water-soluble.

ingredients

Beard wax usually contains beeswax , coconut oil or shea butter - in general: any vegetable oil with saturated fatty acids that is solid at room temperature and cannot go rancid - or sebum , then petroleum jelly , gum arabic or a natural resin ; Essential oils can be added for a pleasant smell .

Brands and Manufacturers

The Hungarian mustache wax or, in the English-speaking world, Fisticuffs Mustache Wax is particularly well-known .

Among the well-known manufacturers of beard wax was the court hairdresser of Kaiser Wilhelm II , François Haby .
