Gustav Radbruch House

Gustav-Radbruch-Haus in Hamburg , named after the German politician and legal scholar Gustav Radbruch , is a student residence hall , also known as GRH .

The Gustav-Radbruch-Haus dormitory was built from 1967; the front building with four floors was ready for occupancy at the end of 1969, the high-rise building with 15 floors a little later. The dormitory is very centrally located, just a few minutes from the Berliner Tor S and U-Bahn (city rail) station and one stop from Hamburg Central Station. The operator is the Studierendenwerk Hamburg. After completion there were mainly single rooms and only a few double rooms. The house was restructured from 1982 to 1983 and group apartments for two to eight students were built. Another renovation for around eleven million euros was carried out in 2014.

The information on the number of rented rooms in this second largest student residence in Hamburg has fluctuated since it opened: 476 residents (1999), 507 or 516 places in residential groups for two to eight people, 473 rooms in group apartments for two to eight people (2005), 512 Housing spaces (2016). The furnished rooms are 10–15 m² in size (short-term rooms 8 m²). The apartments have one or two wet rooms and a kitchen. All rooms have internet, telephone and cable TV connections, and coin-operated washing machines are available. The dormitory has a tea room and a bar, and there is also a hall for meetings and various activities.
