Gustav Geisel

Gustav Geisel (* 1923 in Frankfurt ; † 1985 ) was a German church musician and composer.

Life

Gustav Geisel received his first violin lessons at the age of seven, but initially devoted himself to engineering studies after graduating from school. After the end of World War II and his imprisonment, he began studying at the Frankfurt University of Music. From 1949 to 1952 he deepened his musical knowledge at the church music school of the EKHN. This was followed by further studies, including composition with Hessenberg and orchestral direction with Peter. In 1951 Geisel got a job as a church musician at the Evangelical Resurrection Church in Frankfurt am Main. He also worked as a teacher at the youth music school and lecturer at the church music school in Frankfurt.
