history

Gustav Lichdi founded Gustav Lichdi GmbH on February 5, 1904 in the Lohtorstrasse / corner of Rathausgasse in Heilbronn. In 1918 the GmbH was converted into a limited partnership . Before the First World War it had 22 branches. In 1923 the company was converted into a family corporation with a share capital of 25 million marks as part of a family establishment, with the original sole proprietor, Gustav Lichdi, becoming the director of the AG. In 1927, at the instigation of Edeka, a protest meeting of trade and industry against the branches of the Gustav Lichdi company took place. In 1928 Gustav Lichdi AG closed with a profit of 26,500 Reichsmarks. In 1929 the AG had 50 branches and employed 170 employees with an annual turnover of 4 million Reichsmarks and achieved 73,335 Reichsmarks in net profit, compared to 26,500 Reichsmarks in the previous year. In 1931, the suit was Unit Price Business good value against the company Gustav Lichdi AG dismissed; In it, Wohlwert demanded that the product designation "Lichdi's full-value unit prices" be omitted.

In 1950 the share capital of Gustav Lichdi AG was set at 1 million DM. In 1951 the AG had over 70 branches with around 450 people in Württemberg, Baden and Bavaria and, along with Kaiser and Tengelmann, was one of the major branches. In 1952 the AG employed 400 people. In 1954 the AG had 72 branches in 44 locations and celebrated its 50th anniversary. In 1958 the AG had an annual turnover of 37 million DM. In 1960 the AG was able to increase its turnover to 55.4 million DM; In 1961 sales exceeded the 60 million mark. In 1962/1963 the turnover was 67.4 million DM. In the financial year 1963/1964 the Lichdi turnover exceeded the 70 million mark and made 72.4 million DM turnover with 64 branches and 800 employees. In 1967 the AG had sales of 81.28 million DM.

In 1970 the business operated 90 self-service shops and supermarkets, the largest of which had 1,300 m² of retail space. In 1970 the parent company was under the management of Kurt and Diether Götz Lichdi. The Lichdi-Centers could be found in Heilbronn, Nuremberg, Ludwigshafen, Grünstadt, Speyer, Landau and other cities.

In 1974 the Co op Schwaben Group acquired 75 percent of Gustav Lichdi AG. In 1975 Lichdi had sales of 91.4 million with around 600 employees. In 1977, Gustav Lichdi AG, part of the co op group, had sales of 114.5 million DM, compared to 107.5 million DM in the previous year in 1976. The co op Schwaben AG made a billion DM in sales. On December 31, 1978 the co op group acquired 100 percent of Gustav Lichdi AG, and from January 31, 1980 Gustav Lichdi AG was no longer active on the market.
