Gustav Lorenz
Gustav Lorenz (born February 4, 1846 in Obbornhofen , † August 7, 1927 in Darmstadt ) was a German veterinarian.
Life
Lorenz studied veterinary medicine in Gießen and Stuttgart from the summer semester of 1864 . In Giessen he was a member of the Corps Teutonia . After graduating as Dr. med. vet. he settled in 1871 as a veterinarian in Ober-Ramstadt . In 1872 he became a district veterinarian in Schotten , in 1877 in Lauterbach , and in 1878 in Offenbach am Main . In 1881 he moved to the Ministry of the Interior in Darmstadt as senior medical adviser and lecturer. In 1910 he became a secret senior medical officer and in 1911 a member of the Reich Health Office . From 1916 to 1919 he was chairman of the Reich meat agency in Hesse.
Gustav Lorenz was the discoverer of the serum to combat the red rash disease in pigs ( erysipeloid ) and wrote numerous publications on it .
