Gustav Theill

Gustav Theill (born January 21, 1886 in Remscheid ; † February 7, 1963 ) was a German manufacturer and CDU politician .

education and profession

Gustav Theill joined the family's metal factory in Remscheid after attending secondary school. This factory, which was largely destroyed in the bombing raid on Remscheid on July 31, 1943, was rebuilt after the Second World War.

politics

Theill was politically active in the Christian People's Service before 1933 . For this he was head of the district group from 1926. After 1945 he was one of the founders of the CDU. In addition, since 1945 he was a member of the Provincial Church Council of the Evangelical Church of the Rhine Province . Since 1948 he was a member of the church assembly of the Evangelical Church.

Gustav Theill was a member of the First and Second Appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1946 and 1947. After that he was a member of the first directly elected state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia as a member of the Düsseldorf-West constituency until 1950 .

A street in Remscheid is named after Theill. Theill is the father of the composer and musicologist Gustav Adolf Theill and the church musician and church music director Hans Martin Theill .
