Gustave Dugazon

Gustave Dugazon (* 1782 in Paris ; † 1826 there ) was a French composer.

The son of the dancer Louise-Rosalie Lefebvre (Rose Lefèbvre) and the actor Henry Gourgaud , who became known as Dugazon, studied harmony with Henri-Montan Berton and composition with François-Joseph Gossec at the Conservatoire de Paris . In 1806 he won the premier Second Grand Prix de Rome with the cantata Héro based on a libretto by Jacques Bins de Saint-Victor .

Dugazon lived in Paris as a piano professor and composer. His ballet Noémi premiered at the Theater de la Porte-Saint-Martin , his first opera Marguerite de Waldemar in 1812 at the Theater Feydeau . With Louis-Barthélémy Pradher , who was piano professor at the Conservatoire de Paris, he composed the opera Chevalier d'industrie in 1818 . In addition to other operas and ballets, he composed songs and romances, nocturnes, fantasies and dances.
