history

Front of the Herrlehof manor house

The Herrlehof owes its name to a clergyman who bought a small house with a garden and modest pastureland on the spot. The man of God was called "Herrle" by the surrounding farmers.

In 1898 the area, now a considerable estate, passed into the hands of Daniel Lichti. Since then, the Herrlehof has been owned by the Lichti family. Fires often broke out on the estate, for example in 1917 and 1921. In 1922 , after the roof structure of the house had been destroyed by a conflagration , Philipp Lichti built today's mansion in the neo-baroque style . A special feature of the manor house is its striking water tower with a clock tower. The stucco work on the front of the house is also noteworthy.

Today the Herrlehof covers around 220 hectares of land, 200 hectares of which are arable land. The manor house is surrounded by a beautiful park. An important line of business is the rental of holiday apartments.
