The manor house of Hofgut Oberfeld at Erbacher Straße 125 is a listed building in Darmstadt .
History and description
The manor house was built in 1893 in the historicism style. In 1943 the building was partially destroyed in a British air raid. In 1950 the manor house was reconstructed.
The building was renovated in 2017. The original hipped roof was converted into a crooked hipped roof in order to be able to better use the upper floor. The roof has a beaver tail covering and dormers . Further changes to the structure concerned the statics, fire protection and energetics. There are now four apartments on the upper floor; three of them are reserved for the disabled. The large “manor hall” is located on the ground floor and is used for events and meetings. There is also a kitchen, servants' room, offices and a disabled toilet on the ground floor. The rooms on the ground floor are all barrier-free. At the southern end of the building there is an extension with a roof terrace . The manor house stands on a base made of rubble stones . Above the two-flight staircase in the entrance area there is a balcony resting on four pillars .
Today the Hofgut Oberfeld Foundation resides in the manor house . On the ground floor there is a place of remembrance that reminds of the mare Halla .
Monument protection
The manor house of the former grand ducal farm dairy is a typical example of the manor house style of the late 19th century in Darmstadt. For architectural and city-historical reasons, the building is a listed building .
