Žeimiai Castle

The Žeimiai Manor ( Lithuanian Žeimių dvaras ) is a manor in the town of Žeimiai in the Jonava district ( Kaunas district , Lithuania ) on the road from Jonava to Šėta . The palace in the late classical style is an architectural monument. There is a park with 20 species of plants.

history

In 1387 Jogaila donated the estate to Skirgaila . Then the court passed to Zavišos and in the 17th century to Medekšos . From 1676 to 1690 D. Medekša built the central castle. In 1780 the estate passed to the Kossakowskis . The Žeimiai chapel was built in the 18th century .

In 1890 the manor was inventoried and renovated. In 1940 he was nationalized. After the Second World War, there were apartments and a library here . From 1959 to 1965 an agricultural technical center was housed here, then a dormitory for schoolchildren.

The manor was privatized and is being renewed with private and EU funds. There are educational and cultural events. The castle is being renovated.
