György Cserhalmi
György Cserhalmi [ ˈɟørɟ ˈʧɛrhɒlmi ] (born February 17, 1948 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian film and theater actor.
Life
Cserhalmi graduated from the Hungarian Drama and Film School in Budapest in 1971 and then worked at the theaters in Debrecen and Veszprém . At the same time, the athletic hero and macho actor ( comparable in type to Kirk Douglas ) began an intense film career among the leading Hungarian film directors of the 1970s and 1980s, such as Miklós Jancsó and István Szabó . Cserhalmi has appeared in over 200 films so far, usually in leading roles (he was Hans Miklas in Szabós Mephisto and the boss in the subway thriller Kontroll ). Cserhalmi has also appeared in numerous classic roles on theater stages. He received the Béla Balázs Prize in 1982 and the Kossuth Prize in 1990 .
