Gyllenborg
Gyllenborg is a Swedish aristocratic family that descends from Johann Wolimhaus, who was mayor of Königsee in Thuringia in 1620 . His son Simon Wolimhaus came to Sweden in 1624 and settled in Uppsala as a pharmacist. Two sons of Simon Wolimhaus were raised to the nobility under the names of Anders Leijonstedt and Jakob Gyllenborg (1648–1701).
Jakob Gyllenborg's sons were:
- Olof Gyllenborg (1676–1737), Swedish politician and poet
- Carl Gyllenborg (1679–1746), Swedish statesman
- Johan Gyllenborg (1682–1752), Swedish military and imperial council
- Fredrik Gyllenborg (1698–1759) , President of the Mining College
Other representatives of the sex were among others:
- Henning Adolf Gyllenborg (1713–1775), Swedish diplomat
- Gustaf Fredrik Gyllenborg (1731–1808), Swedish poet
- Johan Henning Gyllenborg (1756-1830), Swedish politician
- Fredrik Gyllenborg (1767–1829) , Swedish military and Minister of Justice
The Gyllenborg family died out in the male line in 1863.
