Gynophobia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gynophobia (from the Greek γυνή "woman" and φόβος "fear") or gynecophobia ( ICD-10 F 40.1) describes a pathological fear of women. A strong fear of men is called androphobia and one of people is anthropophobia . The opposite of gynecophobia is called philogyny ("friendliness to women").

Marcus Tullius Cicero reports that Greek philosophy saw misogyny as the expression of gynophobia.
