Postcentral gyrus

The postcentral gyrus is the twist ( gyrus ) located on the parietal lobe of the cerebrum behind the central sulcus ( sulcus centralis ). This is where the somatosensory cortex is located , i.e. the cortical area in which the body's tactile perceptions are directly processed. Areas 1, 2 and 3 are assigned to the postcentral gyrus according to the histologically oriented Brodmann classification .

Scientific research suggests that increased postcentral gyrus activity during deep sleep can trigger parasomnia .
