The University of Akureyri ( Icelandic Háskólinn á Akureyri ) is one of four state-owned Icelandic universities .
The university, founded in September 1987, is located in Akureyri in northern Iceland. It has around 170 employees and 1,800 students.
The university is divided into four faculties with a focus on business administration and applied natural sciences , educational sciences , health sciences , and law and social sciences .
