Héðinn Gilsson

Héðinn Gilsson (born September 22, 1969 ) is a former Icelandic handball player who was mostly used as a left backcourt player .

The 2.02 m tall right-hander began his career at the Icelandic club FH Hafnarfjörður , with which he became Icelandic champion in 1990. In Germany, he played for HSV Düsseldorf from 1991 and for VfL Fredenbeck from 1996 , before moving to Bundesliga club TSV Bayer Dormagen during the 1997/98 season, with whom he was relegated to the 2nd handball Bundesliga after this season . In the following season he succeeded in the immediate rise. In 2000 he returned to Hafnarfjörður.

With the Icelandic national team Héðinn Gilsson took part in the 1992 Olympic Games and finished fourth. There he threw 17 goals in six games. He played 138 international matches in which he scored 300 goals.
