The Hôtel de Lamballe is a Parisian city palace on Avenue de Lamballe in the 16th arrondissement .

history

The history of the house goes back to the 15th century. In the 16th century it changed hands often. In 1783 it was sold to the former housekeeper of the French Queen Marie Antoinette , Princess de Lamballe . Since then, the building has been known as the Hôtel de Lamballe. After the princess was murdered during the French Revolution, it passed to her heirs.

Later, from 1825, the building housed the mental hospital of Dr. Esprit Sylvestre Blanche , which was run by his son Émile Blanche after his death . The French writers Gérard de Nerval (from August 27, 1853 to October 19, 1854) and Guy de Maupassant (from January 1892 to his death on July 6, 1893) and the composer Charles Gounod were treated here, with a plaque attached reminiscent of avenue de Lamballe.

The building has been used as the Turkish embassy in Paris since 1946 .
