Hotel de Ville (Anzin)

The Hôtel de Ville in Anzin , a French town in the Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region , was built in 1874. The Hôtel de Ville is on Place Roger-Salengro, near the train station.
After the station was built in 1842, the economic prosperity of the community around the station led to the development of a new quarter with shops and houses. Due to the significant increase in population, the community was forced to build a larger town hall.
The representative two-storey building was built according to plans by the architect Constant Moyaux (1835–1911), who received the Prix de Rome for architecture. The symmetrical building has two protruding corner pavilions and a risalit with a magnificent entrance in the middle, which is emphasized by a triangular gable on four columns. Above that, a clock is integrated in the roof, which is crowned by a roof turret with a bell.
After a fire in 1918, the Hôtel de Ville had to be rebuilt. It has now been decorated with sculptures based on drawings by Lucien Jonas (1880–1947).
