The Höfðavatn is a lagoon-like lake in the north of Iceland . It is located in the municipality of Skagafjörður in the Norðurland vestra region .

The Höfðavatn is located on the Skagafjörður fjord about 7 km north of Hofsós .
The area of Höfðavatn is about 10 km²; the maximum depth is 6.4 m, the average depth 3.9 m. To the north of the lake is the Málmeyjarsund , to the west órdarhöfði.
