Higher technical school (Germany)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BAföG administrative regulations describe a higher technical school as follows:

“The higher technical school builds on an intermediate educational qualification or an equivalent previous education. In four to six semesters, it leads to a qualification - usually a state examination - which enables direct entry into a senior position and, under special circumstances, provides a general or a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification. "

Today's schools

Some higher technical schools in Germany are:

Special forms

The Bavarian technical academies are a special form of technical schools. They can also be counted among the higher technical schools. A medium-level educational qualification and initial training - in the case of the specialist academy for curative education, a first specialist academy qualification - are mandatory. In terms of content, the training courses at the technical academies are characterized by their proximity to the technical college course.

The technical academies are significant, but also some institutions called higher (vocational) technical schools, also in the field of acting training . In contrast to art colleges, it is generally possible to start studying here even without a university entrance qualification.
