The Hüni AG is a Swiss company for automation technology and drum technology for tanneries based in Horgen . It is regarded as one of the leading providers of automation and barrel technology for tanneries.
history
In 1728 Andreas Hüni bought the “Gerberei im Hof” next to Sust Horgen from tanner Heinrich Staub . The Hüni tannery developed into the largest tannery in Horgen. In addition to the tannery house built in 1785, the tannery area was continuously expanded with tannery buildings.
While the other tanneries ceased operations at the beginning of the 19th century, the Hüni tannery was modernized into a mechanical tannery with a steam boiler house and high chimney.
In addition to sole and calf leather, strap leather, drive belts and later stuff, bare and upper leather in various colors were also produced. Hans Heinrich Hüni expanded the family business in 1859 with the Hüni + Co tannery in Friedrichshafen , which specialized in plastic coatings in 1959.
In 1965 the tannery business with leather production in Horgen was given up and transformed into an automation manufacturer for the tannery industry at home and abroad. Hüni AG supports tanneries with automation, design, planning and turnkey projects. In 1988 the production of wooden barrels and in 2003 of PPH barrels started.
At the Horgen location, Hüni AG develops controls for tanneries and in Hüni branches in Italy and Turkey, the barrels required in tanneries for the various tannery processes are produced.
