Slipper
Hut shoes are ankle-high warm slippers originally for mountain hikers.
The shape of slippers is like wide socks with a flat, thin sole. The upper material consists either of wool felt with an elastic upper edge made of knitted wool , or the upper is completely knitted from wool. Either a layer of rubber- coated felt or thin (rough) leather is used as the sole .
The origin of the hut shoes lies in mountain hikes with overnight stays in mountain huts . This type of warming slippers that can be stowed away in a backpack are carried along. The dirty and damp mountaineering boots are usually placed on shelves in special boot rooms outside the lounge and sleeping area of the hut and the hut shoes are worn during the stay.
Hut shoes are also worn away from mountain huts as traditional warming slippers in winter.
