H. standards

H. standards are recommended standards for audiovisual and multimedia applications issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

These standards are applied to video conferencing as a commercially important example of multimedia communication.

H.320 is an umbrella standard for multimedia communication via ISDN. H.323 is an umbrella standard for multimedia communication over packet-based networks ( IP ). H.324 is an umbrella standard for multimedia communication over telephone connections. H.324 was developed by 3GPP taken to 3G-324M to create, which is used for video conferencing in 3G networks.

These umbrella standards refer to other standards within the H series (for example H.264 for video compression) or outside the H series (for example G.711 for audio coding).
