Herbert Christian Nagel (born November 13, 1924 in Oberhausen-Sterkrade ) is a German author who is best known for his western novels .

Since the 1950s, Nagel has written around 200 novels for loan books, novel booklets and paperbacks under changing pseudonyms . From 1984 to 1985 Kelter-Verlag published a series of novels devoted only to Nagel. According to Nagel, he always tried to portray the Wild West authentically. He tried to avoid a falsified image, anything striking, clichéd and stereotyped. As early as the mid-1960s he said: “In each of my novels I try to get to the bottom of a historically true representation. The terrific material simply forces me to do it. "
