HP Lovecraft (band)

HP Lovecraft was an American psychedelic rock band named after the American author HP Lovecraft , which was founded in Chicago in 1967 and moved to San Francisco the following year . The group consisted of George Edwards (guitar, vocals), Dave Michaels (keyboards, vocals), Jerry McGeorge (bass), Michael Tegza (drums) and Tony Cavallari (guitar).

HP Lovecraft's sound was typical of late 1960s acid rock . The band was characterized by the singing duo Edwards and Michaels, the complex playing of Michaels on organ and harpsichord and Tegza's driving drumming. The album Live at the Fillmore: May 11, 1968 gives an impression of their effect during performances .

As HP Lovecraft, the band released two albums. In 1970 Edwards and Tegza created an offshoot called Lovecraft , which also produced two albums.
