Life

After graduating from the Piaristengymnasium Horn, Scholz attended the Vienna Academy . From 1907 he had his own studio in Vienna-Penzing and lived as a freelance artist. After serving in the First World War , he worked for a few years as a grammar school professor in Vienna, but soon returned to his freelance artistic career. In 1919 Scholz became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus . His works have been shown in exhibitions in Vienna and Horn.

Scholz was successful as a portrait painter . A large part of his work is linked to the town of Horn and the landscape of the Horner Basin .

Scholz developed a personal style of painting, which in old age led to mostly very dark creations. Some of his works are in Höbarthmuseum (named after Josef Höbarth ) to see the town of Horn. A large part of his works is privately owned by Horner. He also distributed the most important creations as postcards.

Karl Scholz spent his twilight years in the town of Horn, where he took an active part in cultural events to the very end. The city owes him some of the best pictorial representations.

In Horn, Prof.-Karl-Scholz-Strasse commemorates the artist.
