The motor glider HB-23 is a two-seater aircraft ( shoulder - wing ) with a rigid tricycle landing gear . It was designed by the Austrian manufacturer HB-Flugtechnik , who founded HB-Aircraft AG specifically for its series production .
description
The HB-23 is the latest version of Heino Brditschka's motor glider family. Precursors were the HB-3 and HB-21 models developed in the early 1970s . These were in turn derived from the motorized crow IV by the German developer Fritz Raab . All machines have one thing in common: the engine behind the cockpit and the pusher propeller. Together with the generously glazed cockpit with two seats next to each other, this ensures a good all-round view. In the Scanliner version (compared to the normal Hobbyliner version) even the fuselage bow is completely glazed. The HB-23 has a three-part wing with airbrakes, which - like the tail unit carrier and T-tail unit - is made of wood. The fuselage is a tubular steel construction with GRP cladding.
Because of its easy handling, very good all-round visibility from the cockpit and good-natured flight characteristics, the aircraft is often used as a club and training aircraft, but also as a towing aircraft for gliders up to 450 kg in weight.
The engine output of the HB-23 is 72 kW (98 PS) and enables the machine with its pusher propeller to climb rates of more than 3 m / s. The maximum take-off weight is 760 kg, the maximum load factor +5.3 g / –3.1 g .
The HB-23 is usually operated according to visual flight rules (VFR), for IFR operation the appropriate instruments must be installed and approval issued by the aviation authority. A total of 52 units were built between 1985 and 1990.
