The Hockey Club Lipovci is a Slovenian hockey club founded in 1965 from the 1000-inhabitant town Lipovci in the Prekmurje region , which today provides four of the six Slovenian hockey clubs. The first steps in field hockey were taken in Lipovci in 1961. First they played for the Partizan club from Beltinci . The team consisted of players from all over Beltinci municipality, but later on, players from Lipovci dominated the team. When Partizan Beltinci withdrew the team from the competitions in 1964, their own club was founded in Lipovci. The first league game was held in April 1965 in Murska Sobota . Until 1991 the club played at the highest level in Yugoslavia without ever becoming champions. The club won three Yugoslav championships only in the U-18 junior division.

In 1992 the construction of the first artificial turf pitch in Slovenia began, which was completed on August 14, 1993. In 1997, Lek Lipovec, playing all in violet, took part in a European competition for the first time. At the tournament in Sweden, the club lost all games. In the second participation in 1999 in Vienna at least the Portuguese representative Grupo Desportivo do Viso could be defeated. HK Lipovci is the most successful hockey club in Slovenia with many championships and cup victories. In recent years the club has also established itself at the middle European level. The greatest successes were the victories at the EuroHockey Club Champions Challenge in 2004 and 2006.

The club was known as HC Lek Lipovci from 1994 to 2005 and as HC Pliva Lipovci from 2005 to 2010. both Lek and Pliva were sponsors of the club.
