NGO Online is an internet newspaper founded in Heidelberg in 2001, which has set itself the task of publishing news from the political spectrum of German non-governmental organizations (NGOs), above all from trade unions, environmental associations, peace groups and socially engaged organizations on the internet. According to the Netzeitung, NGO Online is the oldest general political German Internet newspaper (in the sense of a newspaper that is published exclusively on the Internet).

timeline

NGO Online was founded in May 2001 by Henrik Paulitz with an editorial team of four and initially supported financially by the organizations Amnesty International , BUND , Greenpeace , Eurosolar and Urgewald . About the concept, the editor Paulitz explained at the time that with NGO Online the factual arguments of business, trade unions, churches, parties, science, NGO and political initiatives should "clash uncensored".

In 2002 the Foundation for the Promotion of Social Movements , co-founded by Christoph Bautz and Horst-Eberhard Richter , decided to financially support NGO online as well as other social movement projects.

In 2004 Harry Fischer founded a regional edition for Halberstadt and Quedlinburg under the name “Lupe Harz” .

In 2006 Henrik Paulitz called on his readers on behalf of NGO Online to support the organ with donations.

In 2009 the editorial team consisted of Paulitz, Farid Bahlol, Klaus Fischer, Susanne Harmsen, Nehle Hoffer, Corell Wex and Christine Wicht. At that time, NGO Online campaigned for the project of a “left majority” in the Bundestag, which should also include the party Die Linke .

As of 2015, there is no longer any journalistic work at NGO Online. The domain ngo-online.de is now owned by Detlev Lengsfeld, who uses it as a sales channel for his advertising agency.
