Christoph Bautz

Christoph Bautz (* 1972 in Darmstadt ) is a German biologist . He is co-founder and managing director of the Campact organization .

Life

As a young adult he was active at NABU . Bautz had his first major project at the age of 23: he leased 80 hectares of orchards with nature conservation friends and turned them into a nature conservation center.

Bautz studied biology and took a master's degree in political science. After completing his studies, he helped set up the Attac Germany office and coordinated public relations there. Together with Felix Kolb, he initiated the establishment of the movement foundation based in Verden an der Aller, which aims to promote campaigns and projects of social movements . Together with Günter Metzges, he initiated the founding of Campact and has been Campact's managing director since 2004.

Bautz calls Campact "Germany's largest political Internet organization".

He is a founding member of the citizens' movement Finanzwende .

Opinions

When asked what criteria he used to consider a topic interesting for Campact, Bautz replied: We have different criteria. Can we achieve something because something is on the brink? When it comes to genetic engineering, for example, the SPD wants to keep the status quo, and the Union wants to introduce genetic engineering across the board in agriculture. We can tip the scales there. Then a topic has to be reasonably understandable, so it is difficult to start an action on the details of the health reform. It has to upset people and of course people have to stand behind it.
